Competitive Analysis
Direct Competitors
Movie Ticks is an app for reserving tickets, seats, snacks, and more before arriving to the theaters. During the competitive analysis I dove into researching both movie ticketing apps and movie streaming services. Researching direct and indirect competitors gave me a full overview of different products within the entertainment industry.
AMC
Fandango
Flixter
Indirect Competitors
Prime Video
Netflix
Sketches
During the sketching process I wanted to use takeaways from the competitive analysis and begin to create screens that are different than what already exists.
Digital Wireframes
While creating the digital wireframes I wanted to focus on the main screens that allow users to pick a date/movie time, select tickets, reserve seats, and order their snacks.
Does the design eliminate pain points?
Does the app design cut back on time a user would usually spend to order and reserve tickets and snacks on a competitors product?
Usability Testing
Design Iterations
Users struggled with the drop down menus, and the amount of clicks it took to complete the overall tasks of completing their order.
During the usability testing participants were given tasks to select a date/movie time, select seats, snacks, and complete their order.
Felt that the drop down menus were confusing and made the process longer than it needed to be.
All participants were able to complete all tasks.
All participants enjoyed the idea of being able to select their snacks before arriving to the theater.
The biggest takeaway from the usability study was the drop down arrows being confusing and participants feeling that they add time to the overall process.
I put each task on its own screen, after completing each tasks users are able to move onto the next screen or go back to make changes.

Next Steps
Conduct another usability on the high fidelity prototype to ensure that reserving movie tickets through Movie Ticks is a quick and simple task for our users.
Does Movie Ticks promote community?
Our users want to connect with others that enjoy going to the movies. Allowing our users to leave reviews helps other users decide on the best movie they should pick. If Movie Ticks allows users to appropriately comment on each others reviews, user will find a sense of community within the app.
